“ Another great selection. This year we had our youngest ever winner, just under 2 years old!”

The Winners 2023

Myddleton Square  Jessica Jackson  Under 12s - WINNER: The Peel Prize ‘Community’
It was taken by my almost 2-year-old daughter, Jessica Jackson. She loves taking photos and took this one of us in the park at Myddleton Square.

St John’s Square  John Carmichael 35-65 WINNER: The CDA Prize ‘Work’
‘Fenced In’  One thing that’s seemingly an ever-present in Clerkenwell since the pandemic is the amount of road works and public realm ‘enhancements’ that continue to take place and shape the area. All these works inevitably involved workers in hi-viz and lots of barriers. I spotted this suitably day-glow worker having a break whilst penned within a whole array of fencing. He sort of reminds of an animal in a zoo.

The Barbican  Anooj Vedd  WINNER: 19-34
I tried to capture the mystery of London’s streets in harsh lighting within the Barbican area. The use of contrast between the shadows and light creates different shapes to frame the subject.

Barbican Estate   Pilar Foy  WINNER: Over 65s
In the indoor streets of the art centre.

Farringdon Station   George Hayward WINNER: 12-18
For me, this image represents a strange feeling of isolation in a bustling backdrop of a city, and how people are only interested in their own matters rather than those around them - highlighted in this image through the woman’s observation of herself.

Roseberry Avenue  Lucas Simpson WINNER: Under 12s
Taken on my mum’s friend’s phone when we met for pizza. Taken on a walk from Roseberry Avenue to Farringdon station.

Clerkenwell Green Entrance, St James’s Churchyard   Victor Allen WINNER: 35-65
‘Scarface’ emerged from the shadow of the bushes in the Churchyard and paused to watch the delivery workers out in the Green.
